It resonates with me this idea of coaxing back to life wonder and enchantment after academic writing. You write about it so well here and I think you also touch on an important aspect of it- the collective interdependant aspect of enchantment. The way nature, john moriarty and your mother enlivened your own thoughts and nourished them. The sharing of wonder nourishes it in each other. Your book will be a labour of love and I hope this part, the weaving of words with all the research, brings a lot of joy to you
Thank you Jen, and also Thank You for how you so beautifully summated this piece for me (so that I can digest my own words better). Having a particularly bad low-confidence writing day today, so seeing this comment and returning back to this reminder of 're-enchantment' has really helped
I love this Belinda (I too am a recovering academic)! Coincidentally I was at a collage demo yesterday at a local arts collective and I found it so creatively stimulating. Reading your post just now feels so serendipitous.
"Recovering academic" I hear you on that. I've had thoughts in the past about setting up a self-help for the likes of us: "Academics Anonymous" anyone? 🤣
Ah, this is so good!!! Love thus update on your process... very inspiring indeed
Wonderful Belinda, as always from the heart and full of circling enchantment. Thank you.
