I've ordered my signed copy, and because I can't wait either, will also read it on Kindle! Thank you so much Belinda for making your vital work available to us! Jody x
I’ve randomly fallen upon a lady on TikTok reading a page from the book, and I instantly went to hop on and get a copy! Amazon tells me I’ll receive in by the 26th April - can’t wait 🇦🇺 🇮🇪
Ah Gill, thank you so much. So glad you randomly stumbled upon it via Tik Tok. It’s self-published and a real passion-side-project, so I really appreciate every person and home a copy arrives to
It arrived today! Cannot wait to start reading it Belinda. I am a great believer in things arriving just when you need them so look forward to what your words might hold.
I just finished reading your book Belinda. It’s simply life changing. Well done and thank you for your vital, healing work. As an Irish woman who has lived almost 30 years away from home, and who has done almost a decade of somatic trauma therapy (and training) it orients me to my own past and present in a way that nothing else ever has. There’s so much to process and digest so I’ll leave it there for now. In deep gratitude.
Sandra, thank you so so so much for this comment and this feedback. It honestly means everything to me, as this is what I dreamed this book could do! In classic Irish fashion, I am neither good nor well practiced in receiving any kind of positive feedback, so I struggle to really find the words to explain how much I appreciate you letting me know of your experience reading it. But I appreciate it more than you can imagine. Thank you, a chara xx
My mother was born to an Irish mother and adopted without paperwork in these circumstances in 1948. I think my work trying to find out her story (I started at age 20 and found out the truth at age 46) is going to be helped by reading this book, so I will be ordering as soon as I can. Her adoption story involves Freemasonry families with men who thought they were doing the right thing (biological and adoptive) and who I respect wholeheartedly as good men (my grandparents and great-grandparents), but the silencing of my mum’s story effects even my paperwork today. These interventions to “deal with” women who were pregnant had immense ramifications and any voices that shed light on what happened are a gift to those of us who have been met with the silence for generations.
Thank you so much for sharing this hear Angela. There has been so much that has been silenced within and by Ireland that, on my heavier days, I wonder how we will ever give it the tending it really needs. But I trust in our resilience and also in the opportunities we have, now more than ever, to really speak what has been left unsaid (and often it’s something we are doing on behalf of the generations who couldn’t). Keep telling your story, no matter what, and I hope there might be some nugget or piece of resonance in my book that adds another tile to the mosaic of understanding.
I have forwarded the information to my múinteoir Gaeilge. She has a podcast about all things Irish and I think you would be such a perfect fit. It's called Irish with Mollie which you might find interesting also.
Míle buíochas for placing this book in the hands of our world, Belinda. I've just ordered my copy - and she will have a special place in good company upon my Great Mother(s) altar. Grá mór!
